Last week was an interesting yo-yo of pain. Come Sunday, I felt reasonably good and took an extra-hefty dose of pain meds, and J and I went to St. Augustine for the day.
I wore a thing that I made a while ago that is vaguely pirate-looking, which made me happy. It's a very short blue velvet dress which is now too small. I cut it up the center, reinforced the edges, and put grommets at the top 1/3rd to lace it up. It looks like a sort of skirted bodice. It looked pretty nice worn with a skirt. Would probably go well with breeches and tall boots, too.
We went to the St. Aug Lighthouse Museum. We climbed it. I went up very, very, very slowly; not quite sure what the deal is, but going up anything (even a ramp) discombobulates me, so I take it slow. But we made it to the top. Lovely up there. We also spent a while in the old keeper's house, which is now a museum about the lighthouse itself. It's always fascinating to me to see how technology used to work, and how it has adapted over the years. And a lighthouse's Fresnel lens is a really amazing thing.
We went to a Greek/seafood restaurant afterwards, one where I got sick waaay back when J and I were still pre-marriage. I thought I'd been allergic to the green peppers in my food. Last night, no green peppers. Last night, sick again. Damn. It was good food :( I've never had this reaction to food anywhere else, so I wonder what on earth they're using that's making me sick.
The drive home while feeling so miserable was very, very long.
