This year I'm learning a lot about the famous musician David Bowie and from what I've read so far I find his life to be pretty fascinating. Since I've listened to his music from the age of four I've finally decided to do some research.
Today I sat down to watch a movie where Bowie was in his first starring film role. He did a very good job I'd say. He plays a humanoid alien who goes by the name Thomas Newton and is claimed to be from England. He came to Earth from a distant planet seeking a way to bring water back to his home planet, Anthea, which is experiencing a terrible drought.
It's a very very very strange film and personally I didn't like it much. The plot is actually good but in the middle of the 70's most movies often had dared scenes in them that didn't make much sense etc. but sometimes it's still fun to watch them - (at very rare times, that is).
I definately wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for Bowie. He's a fine actor with ridiciously good looks which was enough for me to continue and watch the whole thing trough. So I would recommend it to any bowie-fan out there. Maybe if you like older sci-fi / fantasy movies you could give this one a try. Though if you're none of theese things- it will be 2 hours and 20 minutes waste of time.
I'm in love with his hair! XD
I got the movie on discshop and the title was translated in swedish to "Mannen Utan Ansikte" which means in English "The Man Without a Face". The translations here are often misleading which is quite annoying if you ask me. For an example the sitcom Fawlty Towers (WHICH I LOVE) here to us has the title (translated back to English) "Bang In The Building". It's just so DISTURBING. -.-
But seriously The Man Who Fell To Earth = 0________________0
