LG, you are one of the few writers in any fandom anywhere who i would trust with any pairing. And if this first chapter is anything to judge by, that kind of fannish trust is well-earned ( ... )

:D

Thank you. I always look forward to your thoughts on my work.

I didn't really want there to be a named villain in this piece. Maybe fear and ignorance as apposed to evil. No one ever set out to really hurt anyone.

This was never meant to be more than a one shot. David was supposed to kiss Charlie back not push him away so this whole story is really the fall out of that one little change.

At any rate I look forward to hearing your thoughts as the story progresses.

I keep trying to think of a way to be helpful here, but I can't. You've taken what could be such a cliche - woobie!Charlie - and given the characterization some real weight.

The set up is believable and interesting as well, and David is a very well-rounded character in his own right, not just "the hero" there to save Charlie. He's obviously carried along with events out of his control, and that is something I think readers will really relate to about him.

So. *shrug* Not a lot of help, I know. But I love the story as it is!!!!

Thank you. I really did my best to round out David through this. It's from his POV so I really wanted to make it his story about his journey even though Charlie is the one cutting into himself. I'm not sure if I always hit the right balance but I've tried. And David is just so good at being Mr. Cool it was tricky to scrape below the surface and have something believable come out. I'd still like to hear your thoughts as we go, especially in the later sections that have been tweaked since the last time you saw a draft.

:-) I did warn you about the cliffhanger.

And I'm glad you like my Alan, David and Charlie. I did try to round them out as much as possible.

I never post WiPs. Ever. Sometimes you have to wait a year or two for a story but it's always finished.

I've never read anything in this fandom before, nor have I seen the show (but will remedy the situation). but I love your writing and the thought of having a nice long fic that will be reliably posted is enough to get me started.

And now I am hooked. This is terrific. Utterly terrific.

:-) A lot of the Numb3rs fen made the shift over to WC when the show wrapped earlier in the year so I think they hit a similar vibe. Charlie/David is actually considered a rare pairing even though David started episode one. They always had a good on screen chemistry but David usual got under used as Mr. Exposition.

This fic is cannon up through mid season 6 but most of the spoilers are more character background than plot lines.

I do hope you enjoy it, the story and the show. And when you're a little caught up you nose through my back catalog. I've got some other stuff I'd be delighted to get your feelings on. :-)

I will do so!

I have netflix and I am pretty sure the whole series that's currently on DVD is also available for streaming. It's supposed to snow here on Sunday, so I may curl up in bed and watch it.

Unless I am writing fic. That's my problem.

I've got all the box sets so I'd go that way. Just start at the beginning. :-)
