I am hooked, already sunk good and proper for this story. (much like David, I suspect) I can already tell I will be stalking your journal and hitting refresh hopping for another posting every day like i did back when you first posted the Whitman 'verse and the Vingettes.
Can't wait to hear more about Charlie's identity crisis. I hope David will continue to be his solid support through it all.
I liked how no one is really the bad guy in this. at least not yet. Don was young and stupid. Amita was distant and resolute but not heartless or cruel. Alan saw his dreams for grandchildren evaporate before his eyes but his hovering showed he was just a concerned father in sympathetic pain for his son.
And poor Charlie- so fragile and lost. I hope David helps show him how to take all that inner strength he was previously using to repress his true self and use it to love, accept, and stand up for himself.
Keep going, doll. can't wait for the next installment. :D

Thank you. I always look forward to your thoughts on my work.
I didn't really want there to be a named villain in this piece. Maybe fear and ignorance as apposed to evil. No one ever set out to really hurt anyone.
This was never meant to be more than a one shot. David was supposed to kiss Charlie back not push him away so this whole story is really the fall out of that one little change.
At any rate I look forward to hearing your thoughts as the story progresses.
