Why should you watch Sanctuary?
Not really a list of ‘Top Things about that show’ because I couldn’t quite number them. General knowledge and trying not to spoil it, but below the cut are basically all the reasons why I love Sanctuary (with picspam).

What is Sanctuary?
Sanctuary is not your average Scifi/Fantasy who. It’s so much more (IMHO). It’s about creatures, we call them abnormals, living beside us on Earth without our knowledge. The mission of the Sanctuary team is to study the bizarre and the inexplicable, to go beyond the current boundaries of science. They house creatures, from gigantic lizards to human-like ones, to protect them from the prejudices of the ‘normal’ world and to learn from them. Most of the Sanctuary’s residents are roaming free around the hallways. Only the most dangerous are kept in cells, or those who can’t live without a certain agent (the mermaid, for exemple).
The Sanctuary Network protects abnormals worldwide, in cities such as London, Tokyo, Moscow, New Delhi, Beijing, Mumbai, and many others. The exact location of the Old City Sanctuary (the headquarters) remains a mystery.
But Sanctuary (the show) is so much more than just the abnormals.
Who’s leading the whole thing?
And we come to it. Helen Magnus, doctor, HBIC and BAMF of premiere class, gorgeous, classy, mysterious, British (and proud of it), kicking and punching, head of the Old City Sanctuary and head of the Sanctuary Network. There is nothing you can’t love about this character. She had a LOT of history and the more you find out about her, the more you’ll want to know. Oh, and she has a gun bum. And she looks good even when she’s wet (some might add ‘especially’).
And Tapping? The cherry on top. The actress is funny, lovable and her Tapping Tuesday will crack you up and make you want to hug her.
What about the rest of the characters?
They’re amazing as well. In fact, this should be divided in two categories. A connoisseur will understand why, and those who don’t, you’ll just have to wait and see.
First, we have the actual team. About 50/50 on the abnormal/human rate, but I’m not about to tell you which ones or what type of abnormals they are (although one is pretty obvious).
Second, we have The Five. Now this is what’s really interesting. These characters are the center of what sets Sanctuary apart from the rest of the shows in the genre. They’re doing revisionist history. They have this group of more than awesome characters that have lived for more than 150 years. They influenced the outcome of major world historical events, such as D-Day, and have been a part of our literature for as long as they lived.
And Sanctuary is the kind of show where people care about characters we’ve seen as little as one or two times. They just make them that special that they find their way into our hearts.
What’s going to keep you watching once you’ve gotten used to the ‘world’ of Sanctuary?
If getting use to it is even possible… The story arcs are pretty amazing, especially once you get in S3. I don’t want to say anything to leave this as much spoiler free as I can’t, but you’re in for a treat!
Then, there are of course the relationships. And they’re not necessarily romantic.
The Five is a quite complicated group when if comes to friendship, but their friendship (cause there is one) is really special and watching them evolve is fascinating. Gregory Magnus (Helen’s father) is just sweet and their bond is really special, even if we haven’t seen him that often. Though, if you’re a shipper like me, you’ll be served. There are as many pairings possible as there are characters. And the sad thing is they all make sense. So you get lost in a sea of possibilities and before you know it, you find yourself shipping one person with more than one character. If you’re not a shipper, you’ll just delve into the mysterious characters with an open mind. They have history, lots of it, and we have barely scratched the surface.
Overall? Just watch it. And you’ll see how amazing this show truly is.
P.S: It's missing a few pics, but I was already meeting the requirements, and it's due in less than ten minutes. So I'll come back and add some things later. :)
