I got a call from a friend of mine that lives in Alaska. Her mother passed away suddenly this week. They were going to fly down today. Since it's family only I won't be going to the service. Debbie's mom and I had our moments. At one point she thought I was one of the worst people alive for encouraging her severly overprotected daughter to learn to be on her own. She got over it and we were able to get along. A good woman. Enough of the parents of my friends dying-ok?
In other news, I was catching up on my newspapers and I read that Sky Saxon had died. Who? Sky was the lead singer and founder of a 1960's band known as the Seeds, which had a top 40 hit in 1967 with "Pushin' Too Hard." My brain went back to those years. The Seeds were a band based in LA. I knew some young women who were groupies for that band. In fact, that was my first exposure to the groupie lifestyle. I decided I wasn't interested. The young women went through some hard times during the 60's and 70's, but last time I checked, both were doing ok. It was a long and strange time ago.
