Because I like spreading out the happiness, I have decided that this is my birthday weekend. Yesterday I had the day off, so I went down to LA's Chinatown for an annual ritual-diem sum and the purchase of my birthday cake. My mom, daughter, and the bf joined us. Tod's wife Marilyn got a ride with us down to Tod's work, which is a bit surreal in itself. Lovely adventure. And my cake is as wonderful as ever.
In the evening I decided that I would go over to Disneyland to catch the fireworks. I hadn't seen this new presentation and it will probably go away after Labor Day. I liked the "Magical" fireworks show, but it's not as good as the 50th anniversary show. Probably nothing will be. Wishing to avoid the worst of the crowds I went over to the Jungle Cruise. Since I figured I wouldn't know anyone there, I got in line. The lead recognized me and we talked for a bit, then on to my boat. While still at the dock I was the only one who responded to the skipper's jokes, so he offered me, jokingly the microphone. I was too far away to actually take it, but I laughed. Wouldn't he have been surprised to hear me do the spiel correctly? Talked to him after-turns out he would have passed the microphone over to me had he known I was a former skipper. Sigh.
My plans for the rest of the weekend:
Today-morning shift at work. Followed by more house cleaning and rest.
Sunday-Disneyland! I want my gift card! And maybe lunch at the Pizza Port. We have dinner reservations at the Melting Pot. Fondue! Then, hopefully back to Disneyland for fireworks and Fantasmic.
