Very strange workday.
Started out, I was supposed to go to The School From Hell. Late start day, so I'd teach all the classes, but in half the time (for a full day's pay, no less). Then the sub coordinator called, said the job was canceled, but could I still come in and she'd find something for me to do.
Half an hour later, she called back and said that the high school down the street from us needed me there--but not till 12:30.
So I had a nice, relaxing morning of dishes and laundry (and a little Battlefront, of course). Got to work at 12:20, and was informed that I didn't have a class till... sixth period. Which was at 3:15. So I got to sit outside the cafeteria with some office aides and hand out next year's schedule forms for an hour. Then I went to the library, crashed in a workroom with a snack, and played DS for another hour. And then I finally went to teach two half-length classes.
Not that I was really, y'know, teaching. For one thing, there was a student teacher. (Cute, too.) And for another thing, the kids were watching a couple short videos about drunk driving. So all I did for the last hour was prowl around and take away cell phones and iPods.
Note to students: When we turn off the lights in order to watch a video, the little electronic devices that you're trying to hide tend to light up like AIRPLANE LANDING LIGHTS. Little beacons all over the room. And you think I can't see them.
Seriously, if you're dumb enough to think you can hide a shining phone in a dark room--are you entirely sure you're smart enough to graduate?
In other news, the weather sucks. I've taken two half Tramadols, and the only reason I'm not taking a third is because I don't feel like being put to sleep. Although I may take a Tylenol PM before my Elavil, if I can make sure my rheumy was right that they won't have nasty interactions. Because everything is flaring up right now--joints, jaws, and guts--which means my insomnia will also likely join the party.
Dear God: I want a refund.
