How many eps do we get this season? This was the mid-season finale!
I'm tired. Ugh. I got to bed by eleven, but I kept waking up. In part because Miss Kitty is being annoying, and in part because I kept dreaming about roaches. None were in my bed, though.
I was not expecting through this arc for Sophia to be dead already. I knew that in the comics she and Carl grow up together and sort of become boyfriend/girlfriend. But they've already changed major things, such as keeping Shane around, creating Merle and Daryl.
For the arc… Gosh, it just makes everything so… tragic to realize that the whole time they were looking for her, the entire time, she was probably a walker, got caught in the swamp, and Hershel tossed her in the barn. And I feel like he had to know when they were looking for her that she was in there, but didn't tell them because he's so attached to the idea that his wife and family can be saved that he won't let them go.
Glenn, rocks always. I cracked up a little in that he talks about how he forgot how dangerous the walkers are. It's like Portal! Uh, Glenn? NO! And I'm glad Maggie came around to their side. I kind of hope she comes with them, but she might stay with her dad. To stay on the farm, they'd have to take it over.
Daryl calls a woman a bitch. And APOLOGIZES. Uh, wow. I was shocked and dismayed that he called her that, even though I understand that he was angry over Sophia and disappointed that her mother was giving up. I did not expect an apology because you never get those on tv. It's sweet and sad how he's attached to finding Sophia as the only worthwhile thing that he can do with his life now. It's even beyond his own safety and health, making sure that little girl is okay. They must all be crushed. I feel like, though, Carol is better prepared to deal with Sophia dying than Hershel is his kin.
Carol also has an obvious Thing for Daryl that he doesn't even seem to notice much.
Merle- Officially a redneck, racist drug dealer. Eeek. Makes sense, though. Did he give Daryl the shrooms that made him hallucinate the chupacabra?
Shane, Hershel, and Rick- Vying for the Dumb award! I want to give the Dumb to Hershel, because of consistent and willful ignorance. (Glenn said it: Alive or dead, they're fucking dangerous.) You throw enough walkers in the barn, and they'll break out eventually. And you're depleting your food supply to do it. Do the others agree with him, or are they going along with it because he's the patriarch?
Shane and Rick both have claims to the Dumb, but this is predicated on their reactions to Lori's pregnancy, with each trying to protect the kid that he thinks is his, so… I can understand Rick wanting to do something seriously stupid and dangerous to keep them there, and I can understand Shane insisting on getting rid of the immediate threat (although it was really shortsighted. I imagine we'll start back after hiatus in another location!).
I'm running out of characters… Dale could also be given the Dumb for his dumb plan to hide the guns from the dangerous man. Shane could ALSO get the Double Dumb for not just assuring the old man that he's not really going to kill him. It would make his life easier, really. Dale is a meddler, but he has no real power. No one even listens to him, except probably Glenn.
I haven't said anything about Andrea… I think it's realistic for her to be wanting to move out of victim stance and into a fighting stance. Shane is a mistake, but it's a mistake she needs to make right now because he's taking her need to fight seriously.
Lori- Still preggers. Ima chop some carrots!
Carl- I got to say a dirty word! I'm in a cowboy hat!
Going for lunch now.
