30 Day Fanfic Meme

Aug 22, 2011 13:07

day twenty three. the subject is restless and knows that its being watched. i've done what i can to remain hidden and unseen, but i think its spotted me. i have no idea how much longer i can keep it from truly giving my position away. if that happens, all of this research has been for naught. perhaps i should try covering myself with mud to hide my scent. perhaps then it will think i've left and it will go back to its usual activities. perhaps i've lost my bloody mind.

or have i?

1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

15 - Warnings - What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?

23 - When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
i have two main places that i like to post to.

the first is, of course, my Livejournal. almost everything i write ends up on my LJ, even if i have to split it into a billion pieces to get it there. given my tendency to write epic chapters for... well, everything, most of them either barely just fit within LJ's limits or run right past them. this requires dividing the piece into two or ten chapters just so that it fits on my journal. then i have to make sure i link the fic on my indexes so that i can easily find it again.

i also have an archive i post to. its my main archive (though i believe still have works sitting untouched over at Toffee) and, more importantly, its MY archive. Evocative Fiction and Forums Network. while the archive is open to the public for both reading and posting access, its still my site. because i helped create and build it. along with the other EFFN Founders (Dazzledfirestar, Nanaea, Echtrae, Big Sam (the Samuraiter), Evil Megalith Labs, Gem, Madapple, Cadkitten, and Adara), of course. EFFN is our baby. so pretty much everything i write ends up there. its a really groovy place and if you haven't checked it out yet, you should.

because i consider EFFN mine, i don't have a personal site that i post to. not one that i built just for myself. first, i'm not that talented. and second, no one would likely visit it anyway. so what's the point? so EFFN is my site and its where i post my fic. i am using my Dreamwidth account as a back up place, mostly because i don't know what else to use it for. so... yeah. there you go.

24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
28 - Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?
29 - What is your current project or projects?
30 - Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
