So yeah, I went backwards a bit.  I plead making a stew from scratch.

The stew is apple cider chicken stew and I got it from the Iron Stef website.  I only a few modifications such as using turkey bacon and kale in the recipe.

It occurred to me during the day that I don’t read a lot of books for pleasure.  I read usually to teach myself something or to get up to speed.  The same usually goes for writing.

I did pick up Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick.  I initially picked it up to find out what was at the “First Thanksgiving.”  I plan to have a few items on the menu for this year’s Thanksgiving that were served then.  I read most of the book before - all the way to bitter end where the wars between the Puritans and the various New England tribes were not exactly their finest hours - especially for the Puritans and the other early settlers. Still I felt compelled to read parts of it that had nothing to do with food again.

I still find it funny that the Puritan Pilgrims nicked a thing of corn that belonged to one of the tribes.
