One for the Thumb

Feb 06, 2006 12:39

We finally got our one for the thumb! Yeah baby! We had to wait 26 years but what a game it was. A lot of records were broken.
The Steelers were the first 6 seed to make it to the Super Bowl and also to win.
They are the first team to win three playoff games on the road and go on to the Super Bowl.
Roethlisberger was the youngest starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
Willie Parker had the longest run for a touchdown in Super Bowl history - 75 yards.
They are the third team to get 5 Super Bowl wins.
All of it is damn impressive!

Cowher has finally got a Super Bowl win under his belt after 14 years of being head coach to the Steelers.
Bettis also finally got his ring. Unfornately he has announced that he is retiring. I was almost in tears when he said that. All of us knew it was coming, especially when we did win. But......he will be missed greatly.
So happy that Hines Ward got the MVP award.

Now that the Big Game is over the talk is already starting....who might go, who will want more money and of course can we do it again next year. It goes without saying that reporters and such will talk about the future of the team but could they let us enjoy the win for maybe a good week before they start ruining it? They piss me off with their negativity.

I had told John I wanted to wait until after the Super Bowl to get a shirt, instead of an AFC Championship one. (I was confident that we would win!) Now I am just hoping that I can get my hands on one. I know they will be selling like crazy. Wish me luck. I REALLY want one!!!
