the emotion of music

Jun 27, 2008 10:41

today while i'm doing "1st day of vacation" cleaning, i decided to just play music on the computer from my library.  included in that is Christmas music.  i am one of those people who can definately listen to Christmas music all year long.  it just makes me happy.
but the song that came on a few minutes ago made me stop, just to close my eyes and listen.  this song makes my insides do things i don't understand.  i want to weep.  not with sadness, not with joy, but just such strong emotion for something so beautiful.  it's not even really a Christmas song, but it's on a Christmas album.
it's called "The Prayer" by Celine Dion with Andrea Bocelli.  It partially in italian, which to me is such a beautiful language.  i understand a bit, but that's not even it.  i never really pay attention to the words.  i think it's just the combination of their two voices that make it so special to me.
i can't explain.  i just felt the need to share.
check it out, this video isn't quite the same as hearing it in hi-def stereo, but maybe you'll understand what i mean.

edit:  after doing a youtube search, i've come up with another.  again, just feeling the need to share.

i saw a few others, and i think it's him, and the pairing.  i sw one of him singing with kat mcfee from american idol, and it was beautiful.  it didn't make me weep, but it was great.  i also saw one with him singing the phantom of the opera.  that one did bring me to tears.
i now want to own his music.

edit #2: what's with lj?  it's doing wierd things with my post.  i can't figure out how to fix it.  aaarrrgggg!!!  and why won't it make the first one a clicky?  stupid lj!!!
