Alright so perhaps even bothering to use the word "review" is over stating it, because I am just not the type to both most of the time, but here is some... erm... general impressions? Spastic observations? Strange things only I would bother to comment on? Let's just say commentary on the new recordings
fannore got in the mail over the past week or so.
I must say, it was definitely a good choice to get this if only because I realised suddenly that there is a shocking lack of comedy amongst what we had. The plot is every bit as dreamy and more than slightly bizarre as one would expect of anything based on an Alexandre Arcady film. Enjoyable though, in that v. French art film kind of way.
Rika and Kurara-chan were, as always, somewhat ridiculous in the overwhelming chemistry department. Also, Kurara scares me. Seriously. That vaguely crazed shrieky thing that she does is /frightening/, but completely perfect for a freaked out teenaged girl. The cost of the entire video was completely worth the dream sequence in which Kurara, Yuuhi, Shiokaze Kou, and Natsukawa Yura, all dressed in bunny ears, dance around Rika for the better part of five minutes. Seriously, dancing girly bunny Yuuhi. Priceless.
And I cannot not mention the endlessly adorable and amusingness of Pierre (Sararan) and Claude (Wataru) and their undying love. Seriously. When Claude finally kicks it, I thought Pierre was going to have a tiny coronary. Oh dear they're so cute. Even semi-dastardly Wataru makes me want to pat her on the head.
The revue was mostly v. good, if the costuming did look a bit like Easter exploded in a number of scenes. Tani singing "Nothin' Like A Dame" caused me to die several times, because seriously, everyone needs to see their favourite 'siennes in Navy uniforms at least once. Also, what in the hell is the deal with littleboy!baseball Rika? Seriously, that number was SO FREAKING WEIRD. I mean I'm as amused as the next girl at seeing Rika dressed up as a ten year old boy playing baseball and then chasing hoardes of otokoyaku in frilly dresses around on stage, but... buh?
The most important revelation of the show however was
Shiokaze Kou. Dear lord, where has this woman been all my life? Okay well literally she's been in 'Zuka for a large portion of my life, but I mean metaphorically. She was divine as Nathalie, and when she sauntered out at the beginning of the revue in that tux and tails I think I broke something. Seriously. Love. Such a dish, that one.
I still have Speakeasy, the Elisabeth shinko, Miki in Budokan and Appartement Cinema to get to, but that's just going to have to wait because I... umm... was watching Morie and Masaki be painfully, incredibly adorable and hot all at once was doing v. important things. Yes. Shall finish tomorrow.
Ta, loves.
