Okay, well, everyone should try to learn about grammar because grammar is awesome, but that's beside the point. What is the point, you ask? I was trying to find a rule for when "captain" should be capitalized, and I came across a website that discussed the issue. Here is what they have to say:
GRAMMARCHECK: Names of vehicles (such as trains, ships, and aircraft) are italicized or underlined in writing. You are right in saying that "Captain" is capitalized when it is part of a proper name:
Captain John Smith
-or-
Captain James Kirk
I love it when Star Trek pops up in random places! ^_^
(BTW, for those who are curious, the word is always capitalized except:
If the person holding the title is unknown or unreferenced directly, the title is not capitalized:
Who's the captain of this ship?)
