Ugh I Read a Book
I picked up this book because well I thought I had seen something similar, and it looked like a fun read.
Does this seem familiar? From one to the other? A total rip off and I hate the Tudors, sorry all that flocked to it, the costuming and casting never allowed me to even want to watch the dreck. So this book is supposed to be in King Henry VII's time, notice the woman on the cover is wearing yes say it!! Elizabethan, and notice? She is also not wearing a Smock nor any underpinnings. Worse if you ever pick the book up and look at her Sleeve roll? It is safety pinned to the bodice! Yes the artist? I guess forgot to take that out from the photo I can only assume this was. There is another book but I can't find it that has the same gown on it as well.
I love whimsy, and I am up for all sorts of fun, but this book is just out of time! The Author describes gowns from 50 years in the future and I think she made Rhys the actor in the Tudors her muse for this Hero. He even has the chain of Henry's with a Viking (ish) belt, I mean really? Someone picked this cover as a choice and did not 1 person notice the frickin' safety pin ????
The worst part is the author goes on and on in her blog about how much effort and research she puts into this farce, yet? She never describes women's fashion of Henry VII's she does however prose about the gowns being Elizabethan and of course? This lovely lady is in men's clothing all the time.
She goes further to speak about how the Hero can feel the Heroine's nipples!!!! Through a Henrician?? Wow she must have bullet nips! And how her hair keeps falling down and it is oh so clean and silky never in a net never in a Hood, always being shown!!! Really?
Sorry but I know people are cashing in on the whole "Tudors Craze" but really? This lady is from the UK, she supposedly studied History and got a Degree from one of the premier Universities. The worst part is because people have been watching the show, they feel that is what it was like!! Henry was not Tall and broad and ginger haired but Welsh! (not that being Welsh is wrong, however it is not what Henry Tudor was like)
This is just abysmal!!! This is the level of crap out there, I know really good books are being published as well don't get me wrong!

I Love this Gown! It is Fleur de Lys and I swear I know where they got the fabric! LOL
So here are some good choices.
