I've been rather optimistic about this series, and foolishly so, I suppose it is because the game has not been translated, and the manga has been licensed, so the anime is my only hope. However now after the latest episode I feel stupid about getting my hopes up.
The series started out reasonably well, it was a bit slow, and lacking in BL content, but was sticking to the game's storyline, the beginning of which does not contain as much of BL as the later parts, so yes while the animation could be better it was a good start.
Then in episode 8 it all fell to pieces, not that the episode itself was bad -it was very informative- but seeing as it was at the point in the story where the plot diverges into the different routes and they had effectively failed to pick one, said that things were going to get pretty bad. And they did.
I understand what they are trying to do here, I really do, because by strictly following one route sometimes alot of the overall plot gets left behind, so yes by all means try to incorporate those parts into the series, but of course that involves picking a route, because some parts of the story depend on certain events happening, like for example, certain number of characters need to die, this is not that kind of game where everyone gets a happy ending, heck for the most part, almost all the character besides the protagonist die during the course of the game, except in the own routes of course.
Episode 9 wasn't all that bad either, it was not a dramatic as it could have been, all things considered, but it was quite good, the fact that Keisuke survives tends to point out that this is his route, but I'm not entirely sure if that is really the case, anyway I suppose we'll really find out if there is any hope for this series if either Rin or Shiki die in the next episode. But bloody hell this is Togainu no Chi, where is my BL and character death, and why have we seen so little of Shiki? And lets not discuss what they've done with Arbitro's hair.
