Today I have to give up a cute little adorable tiger kitty. :( Tuesday night my friend came over and she parks at the restaurant parking lot next door and when she came in she said there was a tiny kitten in the parking lot next door and it almost got hit by a car, so I ran out and got it..I knew there was a stray tiger cat that hangs around in the neighborhood, I've seen it before...so I guess the kitten belonged to it...I didn't see it out there so decided to bring the kitten home...of course I knew my kids were gonna beg me to keep it and they did...what's not to love about an adorable little 4 - 6 week old tiger kitten. Anyway I didn't know what to do with it since I have two cats of my own and neither were too thrilled to have the kitten in the house...so I had to lock it in the bathroom away from my cats until I could either find someone who'd take it or bring it to the shelter. Of course at that late at night, the shelters were closed so I had to wait til morning...so I called around to the shelters yesterday and found out that not one single shelter in RI seemed to be open on Wed...they all close on that day and are open the rest of the week. So I was forced to keep the kitten the whole day...had to feed it and all..she automatically used the litter box in the bath room which was great. (We have two litter boxes so I put one outside the bathroom for my cats and the other I left in there for the kitten.) I tried twice to give it back to the mother cat cuz I saw it later that night in the parknig lot, but it ran away from me...and last night I saw it again in the parking lot so I crept slowly towards it with the kitten outstretched in my hands and put her down as close as I could without the mom running off...then I slowly backed away and ran into my yard and watched from behind the fence...the cat sniffed at the kitten and seemed to accept it, and then another cat, I'm assuming the dad, came out and sniffed it too, then they both started to walk towards the street to cross the road...thek itten startd to follow but then stopped and didn't go further...well, I stayed hidden and watched and the two cats crossed the road and the kitten was still sitting there by itself and I just couldn;t leave it there...so I went to get it...it freaked and hid behind something so I had to coax it back out again...it finally came to me after smelling my hands...poor little girl. :( I really had hoped it would be able to go back to it's mom and stay in the neighborhood...but that's just not going to happen...so now I have to take it to the shelter today. I can't keep it, even though I really want to, she's sooooo adorable. But Shadow and Luna aren't too happy about her and the kitten is a stray so it needs to be checked out and such. I just cant' afford another cat right now and I would also have to ask my landlord if I could have another cat in the house. As much as I'd love to keep the little cutie...I have to give her up...hopefully she gets put in a loving home with someone who will take care of her well...I'd hate to have her stay in the shelter too long in those cold barred cages. :( It always breaks my heart to see the animals in those cold looking cages. She is a tiny kitten, so I'm hoping that'll help her get adopted sooner...and she's just the cutest little thing you ever saw. My kids were pretty bummed today cuz they know she won't be here when they get home from school today. They already named her Sakura. But I told them not to get too attached since I knew we couldn't keep it. I have been asking around for someone to please take it home and give it a loving family...but no one I've asked so far could. :( *sigh* Oh well...poor little thing. I'm gonna miss her. :'( The shelter doesnt' open til 10:30 so I have her for at least another hour. I better go feed her one last time before she's gotta go.
