50 books

So, here we are halfway through February, and if anything, my total is looking even worse! Oh well.

'The Subtle Knife' by Phillip Pullman
Second in the 'His Dark Materials' series, this is the shortest of the three. I found it engaging and quite a page-turner, though the very different setting to 'Northern Lights' took a little getting used to. I've heard this be described as 'a stop-gap between 'Northern Lights' and 'The Amber Spyglass'', implying it's not much good on its own, but I wouldn't agree with that at all; it might not make much sense as a stand-alone, but I enjoyed it as much as the first in the trilogy.

'Chosen' by P.C and Kristin Cast
Third in the 'House of Night Series', this is much the same as the first two - obviously written for teenagers, with a chummy style that can grate a little, but ultimately enjoyable. The plot skips along, with death and danger at every corner, but it keeps you turning pages! I have three more of this series on my shelf (with another 2 in the bookstores!) and I will quite happily read them all. Trash? Perhaps - but good trash.

Total: 3/50
