Dammit, don't pull me back in!

OMFG, Deathly Hallows preview and teaser.

There was stuff about the book I didn't like (especially everything that happened after "Nineteen Years Later" :P). But there was stuff I did like too, and the fact that we're seeing footage of the last adaptations, finally... it seems not that long ago that the first movie came out, even though that ( Read more... )

Was that dancing in the tent a Harry/Hermione thing, or Dan/Emma? And GODRIC'S HOLLOW? *old jaded shipper heart flails anew* The only thing that would top that would be a glimpse of the Horcrux kiss... I guess I always will have a soft spot for this pairing. Damn.

*grins* :D whenever I think I don't really care so much about HP anymore, some stuff comes out, like footage of the DH in this case and I can't help but smile and can't wait to see it, whether shipping related or not (though the little dance in the tent looks adorable and hee! Godric's Hollow!)

Word. I don't think I've picked up one of the books, looked at one of the movies, even so much as glimpsed at a fanfiction in months, but the moment I saw this? Like someone had Time Turnered me back six years.

Some OBHWFers are already complaining about "too much" H/Hr. LOL, it's a 90 second clip out of what's going to be a 5+ hour movie. They get the canon ending, epilogue included, leave us to enjoy our film eye candy, dammit! ;)

I know right? Just when you think you're out, you get pulled back in ;) so might as well just accept it and enjoy it as it is and why fuss? Hee! I think the dance footage in the tent is a H/Hr thing they added that they said would be sweet, I remember reading that somewhere and it just made me smile! I couldn't help it! Heh - we all know how the books end so yeah, we'll enjoy the parts that we'll enjoy and that's that. *bounces*

And wow, it does seem like long ago that the first film came out - I remember I was lurking when the first film was announced and I think I delurked right after the first film came out in theaters - it does seem like a lifetime ago sometimes (and then not at all for others) - sometimes I can't believe I've known you and others for that long of a time! :)

I had the exact same reaction upon watching this! It's like every little feeling that I had quelled years ago came flooding back to me all of a sudden. Every little quick glimpse of something H/H-related reduced me to squeals like it was 2002/3 again. Oh, I will always love these two, despite the fandom and the way the series inevitably ended.

The films aren't perfect, but I find myself really looking forward to this one. Upon my series re-read this summer, I found that I enjoyed DH far more than I originally did during my first read of it.

Word. :) I miss those days so much!

I enjoyed the HBP film more than I expected to, so I'm hoping the same goes for the DH movies too.

I suppose someday I ought to do a reread... I don't think I've even read DH since it first came out!

I AM SO EXCITED. \o/ And I believe the dancing is an H/Hr thing. AND IT'S GOING TO BE SO CUTE.

The movie needs to be out like right now, gosh.

Right. I'm shutting up now XD

Yep, just found out it's an H/Hr thing, because the haters are gritching about it. ;)

My initial moment of squee at the H/Hr visuals was so intense that for that instant I even forgot about Luna and H/L, which I'm looking forward to just as much in the movie. And Neville! :D

I don't know much about HP, what was it about series that you didn't like?

There were a few things, primarily in the last couple of books, that I didn't like.

After the first five books, I think the character/relationships/world had grown on their own beyond what Rowling had expected, and it IMO feels like in the last two books she did a degree of trying to "shoehorn" everything back into the plan she originally had when she first started the series, and as a result some of the developments didn't feel as natural. I think Harry's "True Love" romance was very poorly developed. The epilogue of the final book I can't stand for many reasons, but ultimately what bugs me is it's a flatly written few pages detailing little more than who married who and what the kids' names were.

On the whole, what I love about the series does outweigh what I didn't like, though.

That is a bummer about the epilogue and the poorly developed main couple. :(

But good that there is more to love than to dislike overall.

Did the story get away from her cause of her publishers? or another reason?

I just think it all grew beyond what she expected - as any good story would. So much was brought up in the first five books that seemed to get dropped/retconned in the last two, which made them almost feel like she'd hit some sort of reset button, especially where the characters were concerned. That's just my opinion, though. It's possible her editors/publishers simply gave her too much leeway because they knew what a cash cow HP was, but I honestly have no idea.
