OMFG, Deathly Hallows preview and teaser.

There was stuff about the book I didn't like (especially everything that happened after "Nineteen Years Later" :P). But there was stuff I did like too, and the fact that we're seeing footage of the last adaptations, finally... it seems not that long ago that the first movie came out, even though that ( Read more... )

I don't know much about HP, what was it about series that you didn't like?

There were a few things, primarily in the last couple of books, that I didn't like.

After the first five books, I think the character/relationships/world had grown on their own beyond what Rowling had expected, and it IMO feels like in the last two books she did a degree of trying to "shoehorn" everything back into the plan she originally had when she first started the series, and as a result some of the developments didn't feel as natural. I think Harry's "True Love" romance was very poorly developed. The epilogue of the final book I can't stand for many reasons, but ultimately what bugs me is it's a flatly written few pages detailing little more than who married who and what the kids' names were.

On the whole, what I love about the series does outweigh what I didn't like, though.

That is a bummer about the epilogue and the poorly developed main couple. :(

But good that there is more to love than to dislike overall.

Did the story get away from her cause of her publishers? or another reason?

I just think it all grew beyond what she expected - as any good story would. So much was brought up in the first five books that seemed to get dropped/retconned in the last two, which made them almost feel like she'd hit some sort of reset button, especially where the characters were concerned. That's just my opinion, though. It's possible her editors/publishers simply gave her too much leeway because they knew what a cash cow HP was, but I honestly have no idea.

Some have said that is how Breaking Dawn was allowed to be published.
