Ha, I love my mom.

Conversation we just had:

Her: "Hey, did you hear about this Clone Wars, this new Star Wars movie, coming out August 15?"
Me: "Uh, a new Star Wars movie? Yeah, I'm going to see it."
Her: "Are you excited, do you expect it to be good?"
Me: "I expect to be entertained, yeah, I'm looking forward to it."
And the kicker: "Why didn't you ever tell me about it?"
Me: *stunned* "Uh, you don't like Star Wars...?"

The woman who's watched the SW movies (not counting AOTC/ROTS) a grand total of once in her life, years and years ago, who continually refers to it as "Star Trek"? She's wondering why I haven't been talking to her about a new Star Wars movie?

HEE. :D

Speaking of Clone Wars, that new extended battle clip (the third clip listed)? I just watched it again in high-res, and DROOOOOL. I love how even in a cartoon, Obi-Wan's and Anakin's fighting styles are so distinct. Anakin is - as Obi-Wan succinctly put it - "always on the move," very elegant and dramatic. But Obi-Wan is very controlled - keeps his feet planted, very little extraneous movement. Having heard the director speak in detail at Celebration IV, I trusted his heart was definitely in the right place in working on this cartoon, and catching things like this further encourages me.

Now, on a more shallow note: Dude, Anakin flying around taking down that giant battle droid just by deflecting its own bolts back at it, then coming from several hundred feet up to land squarely on the head of one of the regular man-sized battle droids and then slashing it down? AWESOME. :D Skywalker, indeed. I like the PT, but one of my "regrets" is that we didn't get to see more of Anakin battling in the Clone Wars, because I do think going through that is a huge part of what happens to him in RotS. So I'm very glad the animated series is exploring this.

And of course yay, big epic 'splosiony battle scene! :D Looks very Star Warsy.
