Went browsing around a couple of the biggie local craft stores last night for Luna costume props; was only half-successful.
One store had the bottlecorks (and both had wire/ribbon), so the bottlecap necklace won't be a problem. The earrings... debatable. As expected, there were no radish objects of any sort at either store. I found a couple of possible alternatives, which I'm iffy on. One store had this selection of tiny little flat painted woodcrafts in a number of designs, which were the right size to possibly use as earring charms - as I said, no radishes, but there were carrots and pineapples. Both of which I could see Luna wearing (I was leaning toward the pineapples). *g* The thing with these would be finding a way to drill the tiny hole in the top for the earring wire without breaking them. Still, it'd be easier than the other possibility I found.
The other store had these big red drop-type jewel beads, which in theory could be used as a base for radishes. The thing with these, though, would be finding the leaves to attach to them and making sure they were both securely attached to the earring wire. My patience with that sort of thing is limited, so I'm not sure about this route. Then again, I could just use real radishes, but I'd probably only get one use out of those. ;)
Plus there's the matter of my hair color -
reihla says she may have a wig that may work, but we'll have to see. If nothing else, at least it won't be hard to make my hair look straggly, heh. ;)
And of course, if I do go as Luna, I'll have to have a little badge somewhere that says "Potty Lurrves Loony." ;D
Part of me still keeps thinking about the Hermione route, because I'm so damn lazy. ;) The only props I'd really need for that (aside from the outfit and fluffing up my hair to make it more Hermione-like) would be a couple of old-looking books ;), and that costume would be something I could wear with my Gryffindor scarf to the OotP premiere next year. Hmm, hmm.
Today is my last day of work this week. :) Okay, so the tradeoff is I'm spending all day tomorrow in a training class, but at least that's still going to be a couple of hours shorter than my normal workday... and it's a lot shorter drive. :)
