The rest of Costume Con

There were lots of pretty outfits at the con; I didn't take photos of many of them because, honestly, court Georgian is entirely Not. My. Thing. It's beautiful and I would love to make one but for someone else to wear as there is no place I would ever think of wearing one.

If you want to see pictures of stuff I didn't photograph this link at steamfashion has ( Read more... )

I believe the scifi costumer is a lady I know. Her name is Mary-Alice, but I don't know if she has an lj.

wow. I'm the maker and wearer of the 'late victorian gown'. If you don't mind, I'll tell you a bit about it. I named this ensemble 'the Derby Dress', because I made it for this year's Kentucky Derby party. It's a promenade gown, and I took the overall silhouette and construction, particularly the back of the polonaise, the sleeves, and the skirt, from a period fashion plate dating somewhere in the Natural Form period (roughly 1877-1882). I think of my outfit as being typical of 1879. Anyway, I'm chuffed as heck that you liked my outfit so much. :)

Thanks again!

You really look as though you fell out of a fashion plate!

I've always loved the lines of the third quarter of the 19th c. The dresses were so lovely and elegant and feminine.

I also thought the black and white was striking. You found an very nice combination of stripes and print.

I'm also glad that there was someone doing something historical that wasn't French courtier!

Good job! I hope you at least got a Hall Award for it!

BTW - Barb is someone I met at the gathering for Lee at Greykell's house. She's not from Sunday drawing. :)

That might have been Angelique, who was dressed as the Pink Pirate. She's one of the models - I believe Rubenesque is the polite term?
