one part sugar, two parts feeling, three cups full of bottled lightning | tv!!!!!!
a. the mindy project season 2 is a go! i'm hoping the reports of making mindy more "likeable" (read: less of what i love about mindy) are overstated. maybe they were trying for ~mature but it came out wrong? I HAVE NOTHING TO ADD BEYOND: RUSHING TO THE BEDSIDE OF AN AILING LOVED ONE HAS NEVER BEEN MORE HILARIOUSLY OTP.
b. avatar: legend of korra is also a go!! tv season is going to be such a mess for me haha. i've found i really like korra and mako's fledgling relationship when it isn't being soured by terrible love triangles. i like that they've come back to mako as a awkward goober and less of straight-up jerk (prewriting jokes, oh dude). and korra's continuing (and entirely canonical??? COME ON FANDOM GET A GRIP!) frustration with old dudes who think they know best is exploding in everyone's faces in the best way.
i suppose i get that people are like "why doesn't korra just trust tenzin, hasn't last season taught her anything????". but for korra last season has been a lesson in the fact that tenzin can't know and do everything, and that being the avatar is about stepping up and taking responsibility for things beyond just being a bending prodigy and badass. (on that note: non-bender revolution aftermath??? president of republic city??? TELL ME MORE.) and this season has tenzin powerless in the face of something distinctly avatar-duty related AND has korra realizing that people will keep withholding information (and impeding her ability to do her duty!) unless they stop seeing her as a child. and yeah maybe burning her bridges with tenzin and her dad is harsh, but it's also reasonable for someone who was cossetted away for her entire life. korra's meant to be an important and powerful figure and she needs them to understand that. korra's allowed to be angry with their highhanded approach! SHE'S THE GODDAMN AVATAR SHE'S MEANT TO HAVE THEIR TRUST. it broke my heart when she said she was unused to people not telling her what to do, but rather having faith in her. i think ultimately that faith will empower her, whereas now it mostly scares her. it's also why i loved that tenzin addresses her as "avatar" as he leaves. hopefully she and tenzin will reunite at some point and hug it out. <3
other things i liked: JINORA & AANG SPIRITUAL BUDDIES AW YEAH? CROSSING MY FINGERS KORRA AND JINORA HANG OUT IN THE SPIRIT WORLD!!! the twins are hilarious, and especially with eska calling bolin her "turtleduck". hopefully the twins and korra will get a little development before they slide into the north/south politics thing. (i also find it really interesting what they think of korra as the avatar, but also as the daughter of the disgraced former heir? are they unsettled by that at all?) VACATION!TENZIN & BUMI & KYA ADVENTURE TIME AW YEAH! C'MON, GRAB YOUR SIBLINGS, WE'LL GO TO VERY DISTANT LANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
also who do i have to shakedown for old!zuko.
c. ALSO HAVEN IS BACK, I MISSED IT SO MUCH!!! AUDREY/LEXIE ~REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE~!!!!! i like lexie but i'm not ready to let go of audrey just yet! i can't sit around another season for nathan and audrey/lexie to kiss again!!! also nathan!!! let's talk about nathan's stupid heartbreaking descent into scruffy degenerate status! HE THOUGHT HE KILLED AUDREY AND DUKE AND JAMES! HE THOUGHT HE KILLED EVERYONE HE LOVED. ;______;
i can't handle this at alllll. duke needs a hug! nathan needs a hug! I NEED A HUG!!!!
d. the sleepy hollow pilot was pretty great & relevant to my interests (the show totally loves its cheesy overtones and also pulls off the creepy genuine horror). if you follow me on tumblr you've probably realized that from how much stuff i've reblogged (& also the vid i made). #sorryi'mnotsorry come tell me all the domestic roommate things you need to see ichabod and abby do. i'll start: FAST FOOD OUTLETS AT MIDNIGHT.
e. the graceland finale was pretty hit and miss. i liked the ending (aaron tviet in that suit + his blessed jawline + ridiculous competence at everything) but i HATED what they did to charlie to get mike back to dc. like. SHE WAS RIGHT. AND SHE THINKS SHE'S A TERRIBLE AGENT RN WHEN SHE'S ACTUALLY THE BEST AGENT??? fuck you briggs.
f. NEW GIRL I WILL TAKE BACK EVERYTHING NICE I SAID ABOUT YOU IF YOU CONTINUE ON THIS TERRIBLE CECE/SCHMIDT/ELIZABETH PLOTLINE. what i got from this episode is that cece and elizabeth should hook up and be awesome (BECAUSE CLEARLY THEY CARE MORE ABOUT EACH OTHER THAN THE GUY WHO OSTENSIBLY LOVES THEM) and schmidt can go cry in a corner for all i care rn.
g. also breaking bad! it's not a show i talk about much, because i don't generally have feelings beyond "everything is terrible, welp". this sentiment is ESPECIALLY true this week though, so.
