Alterations
“How do you do it, Garak? Being so many things?” Bashir wondered aloud, watching as his enigmatic friend deftly finished sewing gold trim onto a dress.
Garak looked up from his worktable. “So many things, Doctor? I’m merely a tailor.” Smoothly ignoring Bashir’s somewhat frustrated expression, he added mildly, “If a garment does not fit the form or situation, it is changed. It’s really very simple.”
“But we’re not talking about clothes, are we?”
Ever adaptable, ever cryptic, Garak smiled pleasantly. “In the end, it’s still the same idea. After all, any good tailor knows the value of making alterations.”
