I'm supposed to be doing the 50 book challenge for the summer starting in May. Now summer is almost over and I'm not even 1/5 of the way done. I've read seven books this whole summer. I think a lot of that extra time was spent playing Eternal Sonata...>.>
I went to Half Price Books to see about selling some books that I don't read anymore. It really depressed me more than selling my school books back. I think the BME gives more, though they're a little bit more discriminating about what they accept. However,a positive thing came out of that trip:
I recommend a little girl Tamora Pierce; she's in third grade with a 6th grade reading level. She picked up Sandry's Book and Magic Steps. Her mother was at first like, "Are you sure..." I had to chime in and say "YES! TAKE IT! READ IT! TAMORA PIERCE IS AMAZING! ONE OF THE BEST WRITERS EVER, NOT TO MENTION CREATES EXCELLENT ROLE MODELS!" Her mother was concerned about the "small print" and the fact that the book had so many chapters. I guess, it is kind of big for a third grader, but hell I was reading books like that at an early age. I told her that Circle of Magic is the better for a younger age group, and as she got older she should move on to the others *cough cough* Lioness Quartet.
Nicole is on vacation, and I've been taking care of E-Mo and Lilly for about a week now. I've exposed Lilly to the outdoors, and now she can't get enough of it. E-Mo wants out too. Problem is there's only one leash and harness; and I can't go out 24/7. Whenever they don't want to go out, they want food and then petting. Lilly is back to being an attention whore; she knows I have an extra soft spot for her. She'll come cuddle next to me or on my lap when I'm reading in bed or on the couch. It's cute. As much as I adore these cats, they're driving me up the wall with their whining and fighting.
Best news ever: Going to see Idina Menzel next week in Nashville!!! ZOMG!!!
