First Gulf War ^%$#$%#%$@!!!! I wanted to be there so bad to sit with HRH Ansteorra, see HRH make his first squire, see Tomas and Rixande get pretty hats and visit about 500 other friends but... real life stepped in, Duncan got offered 5K to stay put and well, life in this economy you don't turn down money *sigh*
Our Crown Tournament was great fun. Although my champion did not train for this one, he finished 3rd. We feel the right man won the day because His Highness had a scary fast sword that day, and Maelgwyn is a really cool person. We met him 10 years ago or so in Ansteorra and his Lady Sabine seems really wonderful. I think I am actually missing doing all that crazy stuff now, it only took me another 7 years to be ready to think about it seriously again lol :P, sometimes I think I have Vulcan tendencies *sigh*.
The site was nice and it was cold and over cast so I got to wear the coat my sister made me over my big blue and gold venetian dress. By the final round it was sunny and I think everyone had a great day. There were so many exceptional fighters and consorts that day that I think no matter who won our Kingdom would have been happy, but I was really joyfyl for Maelgwyn and Sabine, he has finaled I think 5 times for her now.
I did have a very touching conversation with our Queen Salomea. I really like her and she is so lovely, and watching her makes me miss my kids being small. Where did the time go :)
After the event we went to a resturaunt with my sister Mistress Celine and her husband, and were met by Duncan's current Bromance Count Giovanni whom my daughter things hung the sun and moon. Watch out Rolland, I think Duncan is cheating on you! With them was tons of the Northern Peers and I was thrilled to hang out and get to chat face to face beer to beer with so many of them instead of via email or in garb. It was a good time for all.
The trip home was fun, we stopped in Albuqueque to eat chinese food with my sis and Brenden and then took pictures on the trip home, Tressa and I are both competing in the county fair, she generally wins :)
The week to follow was chaos, we got stuck here at home, I ended up working 2 days as a terrorist with a blue plastic AK getting shot over and over *sigh* what a fun job I have lol. Tressa's show steers had to be driven around for vetting, she had carnivals, 4H meetings and dances and cake auctions and I am so tired, it takes me Jeremy and his squire Roc just to drive her butt around.
We got 11 new trees planted, acres cleared and today I will go and visit my bee boxes and see how they are doing.
Time to get out of the chair, but hi to everyone from the edge of civilization :)
