Shin gave a cry as his aunt’s boyfriend gave him a harsh kick to the stomach. “You’re so stupid, you can’t even fetch me a drink right.” He glared at the child shaking on the ground.
“P-Please I didn’t mean to!” He sobbed several large cuts up his arm where bleeding heavily. Shin was shaking and sobbing.
“I should break your little neck for ruining my clothes, brat!” She’d asked the man to keep an eye on Shin for the next two days while she went away for business. Shin gazed up terrified before getting up and dashing upstairs to his room. “You’re gonna stay in there!” He yelled loudly moving a heavy table in front of Shin’s door. The small boy curled up not caring about the blood staining his sheet.
“Reno…where are you?” He whispered starting to sob softly. Shin lay crying, watching as the sun set. Well into the night he finally was able to stop and looked around. “I’m getting out of here.” He murmured gathering his belongings; the few things he took with him all had come from Reno. Lightly Shin stroked the necklace around his throat, “I’ll have to find someone who can take me to you.” He grabbed the sheets off the bed and tied one end to the dresser giving it a tug. Then he proceeded to mimic the knots he’d seen down them so many times in movies. “I hope this works,” Shin whispered as he began to descend.
His feet finally hit the ground a short while later. He grabbed the back pack and cat he’d thrown down before him and gave a little smile. “Well, now it’s off to find Reno,” Shin added before he set off down the street holding the stuffed animal tightly. He’d never been allowed to wander further than the end of the block. He checked his pockets finding he had a 2000 yen bill that Reno had given him at their last visit.
Shin sat down at the bus stop waiting for the next bus. He would go where ever it took him. Suddenly a hand taped his shoulder and he jumped. A dark haired man stood behind him. “I-I’m sorry! Mommy told me not to talk to strangers!” He was about to run away when the man took his hand. Shin prepared to follow the standard procedures of kicking, screaming, and running away, but then the other spoke.
“I am no stranger. Reno sent me here. My name is Asagi.” His smile was gentle, though falsely so. Asagi gently touched the boy’s cheek which was starting to swell up. “Why don’t we get you back to the Café I own and get you cleaned up? You can have some Hot Chocolate and cookies too.”
“Okay!” Shin jumped up to follow the man. “What happened to Reno? Did they lock him away like he said?” Shin gazed up at the man who nodded sighed. Asagi noticed how Shin clung to the small cat Reno had given him.
“You know, I can train you to be a perfect lover by the time he gets back.” Asagi grinned and pulled him close. He walked into a café that was several blocks away and set the small boy on one of the chairs. “Now then, How about some hot Chocolate and a nice sandwich and chips, followed up with cake?” The man kissed his forehead. He seemed nice, but his touch was much colder, and less gentle than Reno’s.
“That sounds better than what I’ve been eating.” He whispered looking down.
“Poor thing, that’s no way for a princess to eat. I’m gonna take care of you now, and you can help out in the shop even. That is if you want.” Asagi grinned softly playing with the lovely boy’s hair. “Do you like that plan?”
“Sounds great to me!” Shin smiled brightly his big chocolate eyes lit up.
