rory's 21st b-day

The happiness I felt at the opening scene was beyond belief!  So thrilled!  ciachick711 had mentioned last week that she felt like when they ended at Lorelai opening the door to Richard we were robbed.  Well apparently not, it was just left to ASP to actually write the scene.  Which I'm fine with, it was fabulous.  But my one negative about this episode does involve her.  I LOVED it, though it felt slightly uneven, but that seemed from trying to do too much, but mostly I loved!  The thing is had I known the time elapsed from the premiere to this episode I could have just watched the two of them and not bothered with the rest of the episodes.  I get the feeling, but will have to wait to see what happens inbetween this episode and her next one to see if I'm right, that while ASP seems to have a lighter work load most of the character & plot meat have been left to her.   Which has made for not a whole hell of a lot happening between her episodes, and frustration from me.  But I digress, because I really did love this episode.

The Gilmore Family is my favorite part of the show, so this had me in heaven.  Emily & Richard trying to prevent Rory from having sex with Logan, that was priceless!  What exactly do they think he's been doing when he stays over in the pool house?  Then Emily, Richard & Lorelai's convo in the study was also wonderful, painful but wonderful.  I felt horrible for Lorelai & Emily, but then had to think the truth hurts most sometimes, which is so true.  Richard's convo with Lorelai at the beginning was also wonderful.  So glad we got to see it.  I get where both of them are coming from, though I tend to not agree with Lorelai.  Richard thought Rory was taking a break to get her head straight, he's realizing that instead Rory is hiding from the world living at the pool house.  I realize Lorelai's bitter at this point, but I would have thought with a few days she would have responded better at the birthday party.  Though I also understand her saying it had to be Rory's decision.  I like this because I can see all sides of the problem.

The other convo I loved was the one that Rory had with Luke on the phone.  That was so cute.  I loved that she was so upset that her mom might not come.  And I loved that she used the chocolate box as her excuse to call, that was perfect.  As was Luke's gift, such a sweet scene.

Little things:
  • LANE!  I love seeing her, she's not around enough.
  • Paris & Doyle were too cute!
  • Rory's new 'friends' I find quite disturbing.
  • Emily's reaction to the ring was perfection.
  • Though, she's pissing me off by continuing to not accept Luke.  She's had long enough.
  • Making out with Logan with the Birkin bag was bizarre.
  • filling the pool house with all the crap & thus making Rory sleep in the room next to theirs was great.
  • Sausages, whatever!  I think this is what I could have lost, the townie stuff.  Yes its quirky and thus makes GG what it is to an extent, but this episode didn't need it.  It felt superfluous and I felt like going 'why is that here' when Babette or Sookie were on screen.  And HELLO they're my favorite citizens of Stars Hollow!  Thank goodness there was no Taylor or Kirk tonight!
  • ETA ~ I can't believe I forgot this, but "It tastes like a My Little Pony." Might be the best like EVAR!! OMG, DIED! That it came out of Luke's mouth made it that much better! Heeee!

One thing with the b-day party I thought Logan would have gone to Emily to have her plan something like what Rory had planned to do with Lorelai.  Its something the Logan I fell in love with last season would have done.  I hate not liking Logan as much this season, but he's not acting like the scamp I so fell for last season much anymore.

I've probably left out tons, but that's what I remember.  Very good episode.

Well, except for the promo, which just UGH@!!!  I already can't stand Jess!  But him calling Logan a jerk, HATE!!!  Just wanted to punch him!  OY!

Also I finally saw the pilot for My Name Is Earl tonight.  LOVE!  Too adorable I have to say.

mnie, gg
