ha HA! New Year's Eve has sucked in Ithaca for the past two years, and was about to suck again, until Jesse and I decided to DO something about it! It ended up being the second best party I've been to in Ithaca after the fetish night at the Haunt (did I write about that? I didn't?? Well, it was the best night I've ever had in Ithaca!) You also have to realize that the best night I've ever had in Ithaca is comparable to about an average night or a little less than average night that I would've had in Austin. It's all relative, dears. BUT! It's still great to have a good night relative to all my other nights in Ithaca, so WHOOT!!!
We bought tickets at the last minute online to this party at the Common Ground, $20 a piece, thinking it certainly wouldn't be worth it, but heck it's GOT to be better than last year: sitting at home watching the sluttiest, sleaziest, most nasty and ridiculous countdown straight from Las Vegas, which was what the ONE tv channel we have (since we don't have cable and Ithaca is too far away from any major tv stations to get reception, even with a high quality attenna!) was showing that night, lovely!!
Anyway, the point was that it WAS worth it!! The party was fucking awesome!, the place was packed, there was tons of free food and free champagne (once you've paid the $20), TONS of people I'd never seen before! (always a blessing in a town that's so small that on some days, every single person I see is someone I've seen before), and AN AWESOME DJ!!! For me, the music is what truly makes the party. It can't be a good party if it doesn't have good music, and if it does have good music, it's pretty much a great party despite any other flaws! Why on EARTH can't they have a DJ like this EVERY Friday night? Jesse and I danced the night away, and every half hour or so, someone came around carrying a HUGE bucket of party favors, from which you could just take your pick! All sorts of noise makers for the countdown, party hats, party bracelets, necklaces, and tiaras! I got a pretty pink tiara, whoot!
The countdown was so incredibly fun, with the BEST music leading right up to it, all the right mix of techno, Madonna, hard sexy 80's, it was AWESOME!! Tons of people screaming, everywhere you look, someone is smiling at you (for who has cause to frown on new beginnings? HOPE: the quintessential human emotion!), everyone dancing their hardest, everyone dancing their freest, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!
Happy New Year Everyone!
