Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

There were whispers at the posters that had appeared in Diagon Alley. There were WANTED posters everywhere and everyone was worried about the pair that rumor said had it, had been He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s right hand.

Meanwhile, Narcissa Malfoy was reading the Daily Prophet. So it seemed her sister, Bellatrix, and her husband, Rodolphus, had broken out of Azkaban. She turned to her husband, Lucius, who was watching one of the house elves polish his prized cane.

“Bella’s out of jail,” she mentioned casually.

“Ah, good for her,” he said picking at manicured fingernails. Only the best for a Malfoy.

“She’ll be needing a place to stay,” said Narcissa sitting down the paper and turning towards her husband.

“Well she can stay here with us, of course,” said Lucius, flicking his long blond hair over his shoulder.

“And her husband?,” asked Narcissa.

“Oh yes, he can stay as well. Although I don’t know why they continue with this sham they call marriage” he said getting up and walking towards the kitchen. “I think I’d like something to eat, darling, what about you…?”

“Cissy,” Bellatrix called haughtily to her sister from the door.

“Bella,” Narcissa said politely hugging her sister and stepped back to let in her sister and brother-in-law. Rodolophus gave a curt nod as he followed her sister into the manor.

They took a seat on a plush green couch. Narcissa sat opposite them and called for tea. She looked at gaunt sister and her husband. Azkaban had taken its toil on them.

“So, how’s my darling nephew, Draco?” asked Bella.

“He’s doing well at Hogwarts. He was made a prefect this year, you know” said Narcissa proudly.

“You’ve raised him well Cissy. He’ll make a good follower to the Dark Lord” said Bella flipping her black curls back.

“Well, er yes…” Narcissa trailed off. She looked down at her fingers and sighed. Lucius had talked to her about the same propaganda for Draco to join the Dark Lord’s recruits.

“So would you like to see your rooms?” asked Narcissa standing up. “Separate rooms just like you asked Bella”

“Narcissa” called Lucius from his study.

“Yes dear?” she called back.

“Could you bring me a butter beer?” he asked “I’ve been craving one all day”

Before she could answer, Bella walked passed the open door downing the last rements of a glass.

“Oh sorry Lucius, I’ve drank the last of it” she said wiping her mouth with her sleeve. “Prison really takes a lot out of a girl, you know?”

She walked off leaving Lucius fuming with his mouth open. He vowed one thing to himself.

“She’s got to go”

That night Lucius was arguing with his wife about her sister.

“It’s simply ridiculous. She drinks everything and eats all of the food” he said “She can’t stay any longer darling and that’s that.”

Narcissa glared at her husband and said, “She has nowhere else to go, Lucius. After all she is a wanted woman”

“And what’s that got to do with me?” he asked “ I have an image to uphold at the Ministry and if I’m found harboring, not one, but TWO fugitives?”

“Oh please Lucius, you’re just angry that she drank the last of your sherry wine”

“WHAT?” he spluttered “Not my sherry! I had that bottle imported from France. That’s the good stuff and she drank it all?”

“Oh yes did I forget to mention that?” said Narcissa brushing out her long blonde hair.

Lucius made an indignant noise, but clearly didn’t want to argue with her anymore. He climbed into the bed and turned his back to her.

She smiled to herself in the mirror. You could never win against a Black woman.
