It happens. One person has one opinion about a book or film and another person decides that opinion somehow threatens them. This seems to be more pronounced the more detailed and supported that opinion is by the text in question. I grew up watching the A-Team when I was little. I loved that show. It was fun action candy, the characters were unique and memorable and problems were solved with cleverness and planning. It had Mr. T in it. What more could anyone want?

Most vampire movies these days are terrible. They've swapped out the terror for the bedroom tease and gone about defanging the monster into an emo person with long canines. Such things give me strange twitches and thoughts of doing things that no one expects on their whiny butts. Like the Spanish Inquisition. With the dishwashing rack. And a spoon.

So I saw Seven Pounds the other day. I found it to be an exercise in why I don't venture away from my favorite genres that often. While it was splendidly acted, decently written and the visual devices weren't that bad, I felt that it was missing something that I could not place.

So, having a bit of spare time and an obsession with silent movies since I first saw a Buster Keaton film in its entirety... in a theater... with a live organ player... I watched the Call of Cthulhu, a modern rendition of the short story by H.P. Lovecraft done in a film style strongly reminiscent of 1920's cinema.

So I wandered over to a friend's house and they had an interesting looking movie playing called Moon. On the surface, it looked very similar to 2001: a Space Odyssey. Having a keen appreciation for Hal 2000 and his ilk, I curled myself up into a comfy chair and watched it.
