YAY !!
We finally closed on our new house!!
We were originally supposed to close in late April, but then it all fell through - problems with the seller's paperwork (apparently she's selling because she filed for bankruptcy!).
We didn't sent out a mass email or really talk to a lot of people about it because were so crushingly disappointed. Now that it's finally gone through there are waves of relief.
And of course the sheer terror that actually owning a house can be. So far Bob has been high on the joy of "YAY ! We own it!" and I've been swamped by the weight of responsibility, of "Oh, my gosh, it's all ours!". But that's good because we're balancing each other out. Even better, he's the one with time off today to start moving, cleaning carpets and such, so his enthusiasm will be put to good use! I had nightmares all night of mold in the walls, and walls falling down, things breaking, etc. So clearly I'm trying to work through all those fears. But it *is* a good thing, and I know it, even if I don't feel it every minute, and the more that we get done, the better I'll feel.
Yesterday was such a flurry of running around - after settlement we had to get some lamps at Target since there are almost no over head lights and we still need our big hallogens at the apartment. Then we had to go interview the wedding DJ. We finally grabbed dinner around 8, and then it was just too late to try to put together lights to run around the new place. Tonight or tomorrow we'll be able to celebrate. I just need to let it sink in a bit more and then I'm sure I'll catch up to Bob elation (probably right when he starts to realize the magnitude of our purchase).
The phone should be turned on later this week, so I'll be sending out the great "change of address email" probably on Friday.
Of the big three (house, visitation case, wedding), this is a big one down! Two to go!
