Issue the first:
AIM buddy list: Stop using your default away messages. You can do better than that!

I've caved. I've always liked aspects of the school counseling job. I've always let the thought of grad school drive me away. No longer.

I know PR isn't my bag but at this point I'm committed to this undergrad program and to a certain school, namely Eastern Michigan. Yes that's EMU. Yes I will make a cheer up emu kid icon. I will also make a "cheer up Emo kid" icon with Emo Phillips...what? Any friend of Weird Al's is icon fodder for me.

Anyway, my minor is going to be Psych so I can lean courses in the direction of counseling for my own sake and it turns out that Eastern and Western are the only big unis in the state for counseling. Other schools tend to be in Detroit and if Lansing irked me then Detroit will kick my ass all over the damn place. Entrance includes 3 recs from faculty and that's never the best thing from a quiet girl so I need to step up my presence when I get to EMU and I'm going to touch base with the CoE even though my undergrad has me in the English dept. Added bonus there are a couple of low level 500 counseling courses that seniors can take so I'm going to weasel at least one of those so I can get (hopefully) at least one rec there and a nice grade on record to show I'm up to the course work. I also need to have a 3.0 or better for the last two years of undergrad. I'm going to actually have to work at school now instead of staying in cruise like I've been here at Delta.

Eastern has three foci for counseling degrees; school, college and community. Community means working for Uncle Sam by sorting out his welfare supported crack babies and their babies babies . Substance abuse and all that jazz. That's not happening. Secondary school counselors make more bank than college counselors but it's not a substantial difference and the bureaucracy that the college counselor faces is actually less than that of a public school counselor so I'm looking at college counseling certification.

I don't know why I've turned from this for so long. Whenever I changed programs or thought I'd have too I got uber-detail oriented to make sure I wouldn't get too far behind on the program and I made sure I could cover all the bases in the first place. I familiarized myself with so many career aptitude tests and resources. I've assisted several friends and I laid out Matt's career path for him. He was trusting his father's plan. This was to send him to the Detroit Art Institute. Matt left it alone. Turns out the DAI is a museum with limited enrichment classes and in no way shape can it grant degrees and certainly not one in animation. I found Kendell for him. Not only that but I found a base program that leaves him with a wide variety of artistic skills that will make him far more employable. He'll leave school with more options then just Disney and Pixar, as if animators are in high demand. You're welcome./bitter

I kid about the bitter though. He did thank me in his last letter. Boo-ya Dr. Dumbass! /true bitter towards his moronic father

I don't know if I should enter the work force and return for grad work or go for it straight away. The transferring is leaving me behind schedule as it is so maybe I'll be in ASAP. I think this may actually make me happy.

On the subject of happy check the fall schedule:

Monday: Interpersonal communication (fecking req) 5:30 - 8:10
Tuesday: Psych of Prejudice and Discrimination 12:30 - 1:45 & Phys Ed req. 5:30 - 7:10
Wednesday: Intro PR 7 - 9:40
Thursday: Psych of Pre & D (AKA Tuesday's first class) & Abnormal Psych 5:30 - 8:10

4 Days. All evenings except for the T&R psych class and that's still after lunch. Free weekends. Prime work hours are wide open. No psycho running back and forth days. Large blocks of time to work with. I am quite pleased. If that single room in the towers comes through...^_^ -bliss-....-as blissful as readjusting to a full course load can be-
