Long time, no post
Hello, flist. You're probably surprised to hear from me, given that it's been more than two years since my last post. We'll see how long this spurt of extroversion lasts. :-)
So, without further ado, here's
The Fic I Liked Today.
Title: Cattle Call

Fandom: The Sentinel
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Summary: In a time and place where Sentinels and Guides are known, Jim and Blair fight their attraction to each other because neither believe that a guide should be the chattel of his sentinel.
Thoughts from me: This was an interesting take on the old GDP* trope that pops up so often in Sentinel AUs: Guides and/or Sentinels losing their rights and being turned into the property of the other. I liked how it wasn't just Jim and Blair working against the injustices of the system -- all the Sentinels and Guides are involved. As Legion points out in her author's note, given the empathic bond that is featured so strongly in these sorts of stories, why would the dominant partners go along with it?
* The first place I ever saw this type of AU was in Susan Foster's GDP series, so that's how it's been branded in my head. I'm pretty sure she was the first, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
