That's a really tough one...I'd narrow it down to two choices:
1) Ancient Rome circa 50 BC to 60 AD - to witness the First and Second Triumvirates (Caesar, Pompey, Crassus and Octavius, Antony and Lepidus), the Ides of March, the civil wars of Octavius vs Antony + Cleopatra, the birth of the Empire, the entire Julio-Claudian dynasty, the release of Ovid's and Vergil's masterpieces, Germanicus' success, Livia's machinations, the birth of the Praetorian Guard, Tiberius' self-exile to Capri, Sejanus' reign of terror, the life and times of Jesus and his followers, Pilate's reign, Agrippina/Nero take over the empire...OMG it is all I could ever want. Of course I'd probably need to be male and rich to truly enjoy it though.
2) But since I'm not male and only moderately rich, my alternative choice is Renaissance Italy circa 1465 to 1525 - to witness the rise (and fall) of the Medici, the Borgias, the d'Estes, and the Sforzas; the lives of the greatest artists - Raphael, Michelangelo, Botticelli, - and the smartest man who ever lived - Leonardo; some of the most compelling women who ever lived - Simonetta Vespucci, Fioretta Gorini, Lisa Gherardini, Caterina Sforza, Lucrezia Borgia and Margherita Luti; the hottest guys - Cesare Borgia and Guiliano de Medici (and the aforementioned Raphael)...the amazing clothes and food and vibrant colours...the rebirth of the Greco-Roman world...Yes there is a bunch of nasty stuff as well but for the most part it would all be worth it!
