No speak of the Paris-Bercy final *pouts* If one looks back on the year in tennis, it should be acknowledged that every single tourney (with the exception of the USA Open) that Rafa completed, he reached no lower than the Quarter Finals. Rafa also had the most Masters wins of any of the players on the tour. I'd say that was pretty damn good. Next up: the Masters Series in Shanghai and then the black abyss of 6+ weeks without tennis (= torture)
Thankfully, I have resumed my more intense workouts again and I must say, although I believe I do receive a better cardio workout on a treadmill, my calves are killing me today after just 10 minutes on the elliptical. I researched some websites to learn that it is more practical to NOT use the armbars while working out on the elliptical. Although it does give you an upper body workout if you use them (and most people do), that is irrelevant for me because I specifically lift weights for the upper body. The general consensus was to not rest your hands on any part of the elliptical - that is, keep your arms at your sides as if you are running. That method allegedly allows you to really work out your lower body and your core and THAT is exactly what I need. I have never seen anyone use the elliptical in that manner but it's probably because most people don't think to try it or are fearful of the balance that it must require. I'll check it out next time and see if it works for me. The elliptical though, is killer, compared to the treadmill. But I guess that's good! I don't need to be on the elliptical as long as the treadmill to accomplish the same results. I also downloaded a whole bunch of abdominal exercises for the exercise ball, floor and bench and will incorporate them into my workout. I just need to get more yoga/pilates workout time. 20 minutes a day - that's all I need - I just can't seem to find it.
Based on the most recent version of my financial plan, my DMP is over in 13 months (give or take a few days). And then I can be truly happy. I am probably going to take some $$$ out of my RRSPs in the new year to allow for spa-ing and wellness items (possibly new glasses, definitely more contacts, facials every 6-8 weeks, massages, manicures & pedicures every 2 months, skin care, permanent eyebrows, etc.) . I know that sounds silly, having to withdraw from RRSPs for these things, but I really don't have a choice. What little $$ I have, after all bills are paid, is pretty much reserved for food and the occasional clothing item. I need to take better care of my body, my skin and my overall health so I really don't see this plan as a negative. Besides, when 2009 rolls around, it's all over and I don't EVER have to worry about $$ again.
On a good note, our apartment is looking much better these days now that the library is less full of boxes and the kitchen is more organized. Our lease renewal information should be arriving in the mail shortly. As much as I wish I could move right now, I can't afford to. More than likely though, this will be the final lease renewal for this apartment. I can't see me living there once my DMP is fully paid off. That means a January 2009 move is in the works.
YAY! Amazing Race is back. Team Moonlight is a go! I only wish we get to go to Romania and the other Slavik countries....for obvious reasons. Ireland was just gorgeous. I really would love to visit it someday.
