Good for you, and in front of everyone. Served her right. A similar situation for me was one occasion on which the infamous Deena Minors, in my workplace, confronted me with a complaint. Most people are too polite/intimidated to stand up to her, but I was in no mood to take her crap that day. I cut her off after just a few words by getting within six inches of her face and forcefully saying, "Don't start with me." She clammed up, turned around and stalked off. A little victory, but significant, as she has never intimidated me since.

That's the thing with verbal bullies -- if you stand up to them, they usually turn out to be nothing but spiteful hot air.

Well done both.

Well, merci bien. I was surprised when she backed down and slithered away. The knowledge that she is easily defused has helped a lot in encounters I've had with her since then; I believe the term is empowerment.

I prefer "verbal pwnage" -- but I'm an online gamer... and I'd never say that out loud. I'm not sure HOW one would say that out loud.

Poon? Pwun? Pwoon? With a Welsh accent, maybe? Sounds like something you'd eat when constipated.

If I ever say "LOL" out loud on purpose (it has *ahem* slipped out once or twice before) I will have to do something drastic, like throw my computer away.

"pwnage"? Obviously this is a whole culture of which I am unaware.

My stepdaughter uses expressions like LOL in her daily texts to her amigos, but learnt pretty quickly to write longhand when sending me any messages of an e-nature.

In this case, ignorance is bliss.

On the other hand, if you want to start on the slippery slope of leetspeak (unavoidable for an online gamer like me, even if I don't use the lingo), there's always wikipedia

Interesting link, which led me to others. Have considered some online gaming, but there's often a fee. The last post on your own LJ page makes it look quite daunting! I know Elle likes World of Warcraft, and one or two people I know like it too.

Perhaps we should discuss this on my page, as we are prevailing upon ladkyis's hospitality.

You may not know Ann :D She is hands down THE best host anyone could wish for. All the same, you're right!

The whole torrenting thing isn't a prerequisite for online gaming, thank god, it's just one of the means of delivery (large files etc). And yes, the better games have fees. They also tend to want a fair chunk of time (and they're addictive). If you have plenty of other pursuits, you're not really missing anything :-D
