“Seohyun!” a voice calls, and Seohyun turns to see Tiffany behind her, a stack of folders clutched in her arms and a cheerful grin on her face. “I haven’t seen you in forever, where have you been?”

Seohyun smiles back at her. “Working.”

“Oh yeah, I heard you got to do an interview with a vampire, right? Who was it again?”

“Sunny.”

Tiffany’s eyes widen. “Like-the Sunny?” She lets out a low whistle when Seohyun nods. “Damn. How was that?”

Seohyun shrugs. “Like interviewing a human, I guess. Except more threatening.”

Tiffany laughs, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear. “Did you get to see her coffin?”

“No, I just met her at one of the vampire bars-Mercury, the one a few blocks from here.” Tiffany’s expression changes for a split second when she hears the name, and Seohyun frowns. “What?”

“Oh. Um, nothing really. It’s just that….” Tiffany hesitates, glancing over her shoulder before she leans in and asks quietly, “Did you happen to see Krystal there? She likes that one.”

“No, I didn’t, sorry. Is she missing again?”

Tiffany sighs and shifts the folders in her arms. “I haven’t heard from her in a few days is all. I mean, relatively speaking that’s not a very long time for her to be gone, but I still worry.”

Seohyun nods. “I’m sure she’s okay. Or, well, whatever ‘okay’ means for her. But I’ll keep an eye out,” she promises.

Tiffany smiles at her, but there’s a hint of sadness to it. “Thanks. I just always feel so guilty. She doesn’t have anyone else, you know? Not after Jessica-” She cuts herself off there, shaking her head as if to clear away the memories. “Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I just want to make sure that she’s safe.”

“She’s lucky to have you looking out for her,” Seohyun tells her.

Tiffany’s smile turns a little more genuine, and she gives Seohyun a one-armed hug. “I’ve got to go file these now,” she says, indicating the folders, “but we need to hang out soon, okay?”

“Okay.” Tiffany presses a kiss to Seohyun’s cheek and then she’s off, heels clicking on the tile floor. Seohyun watches her go for a few moments before she turns back around and heads towards Kyuhyun’s office.

An hour later, all of Seohyun’s notes and recordings have been uploaded to the main computer systems and she’s sitting in her apartment flipping through the terrible daytime television shows. She knows she should probably be doing more research into Sunny’s background or at least reading that novel Hyoyeon lent her two months ago, but she can’t seem to get up the motivation. Dealing with vampires is so draining, she thinks to herself, and cracks a smile at her own pun.

Her phone buzzes in the middle of another You are NOT the father! victory dance, and Seohyun picks it up to see that she has a text from an unknown number. She frowns and opens it to see a few short lines.

10:00PM tonight
Mercury

-S
Seohyun reads it over a few times to make sure, then opens the email program on her phone and sends a quick message to Taeyeon. The text is a little suspicious, definitely, but there’s something about Sunny that makes Seohyun want to take a chance. She hesitates, then types, The sun’s out, why are you awake? and presses Send before she can change her mind.

Couldn’t sleep, is Sunny’s rather quick reply. Even vampires get insomnia.

And have cell phones, too, apparently.

The response is a little slower this time, and Seohyun imagines Sunny chuckling as she lays in her-coffin? Bed? What do vampires even do during the day? You’ve still got a lot to learn, Seo Joohyun.

Seohyun’s thumbs hover over her keypad for a few moments before she writes, That’s why I’ve got you.

Yes it is, Sunny replies, and another text arrives a moment later. See you tonight.
