My dear Meng-Ting...I know all too well of that stress...that helpless desire for success and accomplishment. You have been conditioned and engrained with the ideal of achievement, so that it is no longer "them" but you who pushes yourself toward torment.

But...but the stress is only a passing thing. Days will go by, deadlines will disappear...the future holds more of those trials, but you only live day by day. You do what you can for a day, and move on. Fight strong, fight brave, my friend. You have all of the heart to do so.

from this you say you're dogged and relentless, but somehow your pictures still conjure a calmness, a place of peace.

It's true, that's the way I view my photography I suppose. I know I'm an amateur and it's not revolutionary work, but it helps me relax, like stream-writing. ♥

Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it personage October 9 2003, 22:27:57 UTC
i think you need stress to live. i realize that it sounds somewhat masochistic, but let me assure you-- it's not. just imagine how plain and uneventful one's life would be were there no stress; one'd die from boredom.
and who said being an overachiever is bad?! we all admire successful people.

here I say "I'm not quite in touch." lachie October 10 2003, 19:13:00 UTC
The problem is that the stress arises from something that actually causes me boredom. If I were to stress over something I loved, I wouldn't mind it as much.

i've found that the more time you spend perfecting/working on something, the easier it becomes, and in time you don't mind it as much, so the stress factor is reduced, as is the boredom.
what is it you don't like, anyway?

That's true. I think there's a correlation between what we love and what we're good at. Then again, I don't mind Calculus but it still bores me. I could never say I have a passion for it. What I really don't like however is physics.
