Oakdale Christmas (4/4)
Reid could hear and feel someone creeping down the hall. He rolled over in bed so he was facing his husband, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him closer. He hear a moan from the blond and smile spread across his face as he leaned in closer and kissed him.
"Merry Christmas." Luke whispered, opening his eyes halfway.
"Merry Christmas," Reid replied, "They're about to come in here and jump on us."
"Don't act surprised, they do it every year."
"I know, Jacob did it when he was younger and I'm sure Rose will start when she's old enough."
Luke smiled as they heard the door open to their room. They just stared at each other as they felt two sets of hands and feet climb up onto the bed. One walked towards Reid and the other towards Luke. Suddenly, Jamie and Nicky were jumping on them.
"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" they chanted, "It's Christmas!"
"It was so better last year when they decided to sleep in." Reid mumbled, sitting up and grabbing Jamie, pulling him to lay down.
"Only because you told them Santa decided not to come until later. They cried themselves back to sleep." Luke replied, doing the same with Nicky.
"No, Daddy, it's present time!"
"It's six in the morning."
"In just a few minutes we're all going to be woken by Rose anyway." Luke pointed out.
Jamie and Nicky grabbed their father's hands and started pulling to get them out of bed. They finally allowed them to pull them out of bed, down the hall and downstairs where all the presents were sitting under their little three foot tree. Katie, Jacob and Rose were already sitting on the couch, waiting.
"Morning." Katie smiled at them.
"Morning," Luke smiled back, "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas," she said, handing Rose over to him, "She's been feed."
Reid sat down in the chair with his back to the kitchen and carefully pulled Luke onto his lap, Luke's legs resting over the arm of the chair. Rose sat on his lap, her back to Reid's chest. Luke rested his head on Reid's shoulder and Reid wrapped one arm around his back and the other draped over his knees.
"Boys, why don't you pass out presents?" Katie looked at Jamie and Nicky bouncing around all the presents, "Jacob, help them would you."
Jacob got up off the couch and walked around it. They started passing out the presents, slowly because some of them they could not move as well. Once everyone had their presents, they decided to go in order, younger to oldest in opening them. Luke and Reid had to open Rose's gifts for her because, though she was seven months old, she didn't really know how to open a present just yet.
Rose received; a Mozart Music Cube (from Reid), a Rhyme and Discover book (from Luke), a Learn-to-dress doll (from Jacob), a Huggable Pacifier (from Jamie and Nicky), and a Disney Tigger Plush Rocker (from Katie). Nicky received; a LEGO Star Wars Obi Wan Kid's watch (from Jacob), a Toy Story 3 Woody and Bullseye Round-up Pack (from Katie), a Toy Story 3 Buss Lightyear Deluxe Action Wing pack (from Luke), an Uncle Milton Ant Farm Gel Colony with Lights (from Reid), and a Nerf ball (from Jamie).
Jamie received; a LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Kid's watch (from Jacob), an Educational Insights Science Special Effects kit (from Reid), a Hoberman Mini Sphere Ring (from Katie), Mighty Beanz (from Luke), and a Last Airbender Aang's Battle Staff (from Nicky). Jacob received; a complete set of Kung Zhu (from Reid and Luke), a new racing bike (from Katie), and a LEGO Star Wars Han Solo kid's watch (from Jamie and Nicky).
As for the adults, they kids just made them something from school. Reid and Luke got Katie a year membership to the new spa that had just opened up in Old Towne. Katie got Luke and Reid a weekend getaway for the two of them to Hawaii. Reid bought Luke the newest laptop for his writing and Luke got him a three year membership to a food club, they brought the food to him.
After they were finished with all that, they all headed upstairs to get dressed. It was just after nine and they decided they would head to Metro for breakfast before heading over to the farm to open presents with the rest of the family. They already knew most of the presents would be opened by then, but those for Jacob, Jamie, Nicky and Rose would still be there for them.
Metro was open on Christmas for those who had nowhere else to go on Christmas but since it was Henry and Barbara were the ones that ran Metro, they only spent Christmas with each other. Christmas Eve is when they spend time with Paul and Emily and Eliza.
"Merry Christmas!" Barbara greeted them as they walked inside.
"Merry Christmas, Barbara." Katie hugged and kissed her cheek.
There were already a few people in Metro, enjoying a nice breakfast. Barbara seated them and they quickly ordered, knowing Reid and the kids would not be able to wait long to get food into their stomachs. It was bad that all four children were just like Reid. They loved their food, and they loved sharing their food with him whenever he finished before they did. Luke and Katie always had to try and stop it, but they rarely ever succeed in doing anything about it.
When their food arrived, they all dug in. Jacob, Jamie and Nicky started talking about their new toys, all wearing their new watches. Katie was also wearing a new necklace that Simon had bought for her and given to her the night before. Nicky and Jamie would be going to spend the night with Gretchen and Blaire so their presents were still with them at their house. It was always like that on Christmas for the boys. Christmas Eve, they would all spend together, Reid and Luke would have them Christmas day and then Gretchen and Blaire would take them Christmas night and sometimes for a weekend so Luke and Reid could have some time to themselves.
When they were finished, they made their way to the farm.
