Update! Woo!
Tomorrow is the start of my last semester of my BSc undergrad!
After all this time I'll finally have what I started out to do SO MANY years ago! So strange....
I will only be taking two courses this semester, as I was supposed to be finishing my thesis, but that of course was bumped forward. This means I will have oodles of time to study, and so will hopefully kick butt in my exams. My final project is going really well, and I'm still really excited about it! It hasn't gotten finished for Christmas (obviously) but thats okay, cause it's really, really close!
And the reason it is taking longer is because every time I go in to present my updates to my advisor he says "this is great! it reminds me that we should ALSO look into x, y and z!" And so my project will be thorough if nothing else ^_^ And so all the delays are because of him, which is just fine by me.
Nikolaus and I spent Christmas in Bermuda, which was warm, and full of family fun and great food. My mom is doing really well, and while there was some sadness it wasn't debilitating. It was also balanced out by a lot of good reminiscing.
There were many questions about the wedding, which was to be expected I suppose. Lots of suggestions of what colour white my dress should be, which was frustrating as I don't know how many times I've said that it will NOT be white. But I'm also grumpy about the dress because I don't like dress shopping at all, so I know and can appreciate that it was all with the best of intentions!
We have booked the evening reception (ie FOOD part of the wedding!) and have also confirmed the out door venue for the actual ceremony at the fort! Hurray! Those are really the most important parts as far as I'm concerned ^_^ So yeah. Wedding plans are coming along! I'm sure June will be here totally before I am ready @_@
Other than that I'm not sure what else to update. I have left this waaay too long and really needed to jot some things down lest I never ever remember what I did with my life.
Oh, well, I guess I should say that I have been completely inspired by my cousin into getting fit!
She is my favourite cousin. We were born in the same year, 2 months apart. She is really loving and outgoing, and all around fab. Last year she decided to swim from Alcatraz across the San Fransisco Bay to the mainland, to raise money for a big cancer charity.
As you might imagine, this was no dawdle at the beach. She trained for months. And I believe the swim was in Feb or something outrageous... And she totally pulled it off! Not that I ever doubted her. It really got me wishing I was fit. I have never been fat, but I've never ever been fit either. I was at my peak fitness whilst I was a zookeeper, and that was just because I happened to have a very manual job. The only exercise I've ever liked was swimming, really. I'm not competitive and have never really liked groups sports type things.
But she looked so GOOD after all this training. She did yoga, and would go for a run for like an hour like it weren't no thing... just... amazing. After two years of the student life again I was feeling exhausted if I had to lug my laptop to campus! It was getting really bad.
So this past October I signed up for a semester pass at the gym, and got some more personal training sessions with the awesome guy I trained with back when I had been doing rowing.
It has been going really really well. Just before I went home for Christmas I did a run on the treadmill for 10minutes. In a row. And for me, that is something I've never done in my LIFE. I'm once again feeling like I can move around and be in my body and just DO things without it being an effort.
I think next I'll go to some yoga or pilates classes to improve my flexibility, and also take up a dance or something again ^_^ Really excited to be using my body totally to the fullest, and not letting my back pain crop up again, and not feeling like a 60 year old first thing in the morning.
yay for fitness and fabulous cousins ^_^
