mini-rant about abortion

"They cannot call themselves Catholic when they violate such a core belief as the dignity of the unborn," Naumann said Tuesday.

It's been awhile since I've studied the Catholics in depth. (Hellooooooo Making of Europe...) BUT I don't recall "dignity of the unborn" being a core belief. As far as I know, it's a pretty nouveau belief to fight so vehemently against abortion. Last I checked the basic belief differences in the Catholic Church is transubstantiation. Other than that, beliefs are pretty much the same. (Differences in practices sure, but not religious beliefs.)

I get being against abortion. I don't spend my weekends fighting for the right to "kill babies" as the church and others put it so falsely. I'm not PRO-abortion. So I understand not wanting to promote abortion, I see the argument of the other side, I do.

What I don't appreciate is being told that someone else's beliefs should supercede mine. If you don't like abortion, don't do it. If you don't like gays, don't fuck guys. Stop trying to better me and society as a whole. When people want to better themselves, they'll show up at your church. Then you can tell them what you do and don't want them to do and they can decide whether they want to follow your teachings. Until then, keep to your flock and leave me and my country's laws ALONE.
