Please watch this. My Keith getting emotional about an emotional issue. It is truly amazing. He says what I feel about this... he's a bit more eloquent than I am.

I'm not opposed to religion, the idea. I am opposed to the way man uses religion to further, not the agenda of a higher being, but their own. People who use religion to discriminate base their beliefs on ONE passage when the entire book is full of general statements of "don't judge, love all" etc. MARRIAGE IS NOT A RELIGIOUS ISSUE. It is a BUSINESS ARRANGEMENT. Please let me rephrase this, it is a BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP. It's the combining of assets, only in recent centuries tied together by a couple people who dig each other. If you marry for love, more power to you, but I just don't buy that it is a religious covenant. If marriage is so sacred, we should outlaw divorce for the betterment of society. If we're going to play this game, that's the next step.

I just can't wrap my logical brain around the idea that denying someone else the rights I enjoy, makes my rights more sacred. And if I were to allow them to share these rights, my rights would be lessened, cheapened in some way...

I feel like we're taking steps backward. And for what?
