Mooncat merely enforced her dominance. This is perfectly normal for cats.

(Sleeping on top of your head is another way of asserting top cattedness, though it could be conceded that the reverse position might not be tenable in the long term.)

Mrs Whiskers is similar. She goes outside for seconds or minutes, and then comes back in and goes straight to her food bowl. The expression is 'I've been out. I've done catlike things. I deserve treats as a result. Where exactly are they?'

Iskander goes straight to the fridge: 'look, I came in: that's good, isn't it? So reward me.'

Fruitcake has this in reverse. 'Look, I ate one of your cat treats. I deserve some outside.' I suppose it makes as much sense that way.

You need to know your place.

Kurt gets himself locked in the bathroom at regular intervals. (So does Zara but she is civilised about it.) Many's the time one of us has been wakened or summoned upstairs by scrabbling. An open door just gets us a "What took you so long," yowl.

What gets me is that it's Moon -- who is the sweetest natured of our three -- who is so very particular about such things. The boys just give up and go round to the cat flap.
And I thought Kurt could open doors by himself. Someone is Not Trying.

Kurt, bless him, is too dim to open doors.

Ross and Flash, now...

I knew someone could, given how many small hours visits I had from Flash when he was a kitten.

A really good cat slave would feel guilty about this lapse, instead of posting about it on the internet and including remarks critical of the way a particular member of the superior species expressed her dismay over the poor quality of noshes available to her.

I get nagged enough already by our lot--I am so glad that "doorkeeper" is not on the list as well.

Mooncat obviously used her magical power of cat hypnosis to induce guilt.

They're so good at that!
