The scene: a sitting room in Cambridge. The marquise is putting various books away. Mooncat is sitting on the outside windowsill.
Mooncat: Silent miaow.
Marquise: You're outside. (Thinks: it must be warmer. Moon hasn't been out in days. This expedition is a Good Thing.)
Mooncat: Silent miaow.
Marquise: What a nice outside for Mooncats.
The marquise goes into the kitchen to fetch coffee and do several small jobs. About ten minutes pass. She returns to the sitting room with her coffee. Mooncat is still on the windowsill.
Mooncat: Very forceful and pointed silent miaow.
Marquise: Moon, I am not going to unlock the front door just to let you in.
Mooncat: Pointed glare.
The marquise finds her keys, unlocks the front door and lets Mooncat back in.
Mooncat: What took you? Honestly, this is *not* what I call service. (Goes into kitchen to sneer at her food bowl).
Marquise: What just happened here?
