Well here I am in a New Year, a year older...and not feeling a year wiser, but I guess that's ok! Thanks to everyone for all their birthday wishes, it really helped to make the day feel special.
Today I started what will be my last semester of university, which seems completely unreal on so many levels. It doesn't seem possible that university can be ending already, and that it can really be time for me to enter "the real world." I'm looking forward to being done and moving on but I'm also terrified...but I guess that's a pretty normal reaction. I'm trying not to worry about what the future holds (which if you know me is hard because I'm a natural worrywart) and instead to realize that I just have to take it one day at a time and enjoy myself! (Sometimes I think I use this journal just to give myself pep talks...)
I had a great time at home for the Christmas holidays but it went by in a blur. Partly because it really was a short break I think (the 20th to the 3rd) and also just because there was so much going on...spending time with family, visiting friends, Christmas shopping, being with Jon, etc. It can be a hard balance because I want to see family and friends but I also want to spend as much time as possible with Jon. There is nothing I look forward to more than the day we don't have to be in a long distance relationship anymore.
Despite being sad to leave home it is nice to be back in Ottawa, to be with Ottawa friends and enjoy the uncommonly warm weather...today I went grocery shopping and I wore my fall jacket and it wasn't even buttoned up! Yes I'm aware this weather is kind of scary (as my way too chatty cab driver said a few times last night) but I can't help but enjoy the fact that I'm not walking to school in minus 20 weather wearing 5 layers of clothing.
There is a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks...my parents are coming to visit at the end of the month, I'm going to see the Tragically Hip the first weekend of February, and hopefully I'll have a birthday party somewhere in there too! I'm going to have to be sure to do any homework through the week because there won't be much time on the weekends!
