1. Why do you prefer LJ over other blogging/social networking sites? I love the community aspect of LJ. IMHO, no other social networking site handles comments/responses as well as LJ does. I think it allows greater and deeper social interaction than facebook, etc.
2. How frequently do you post? If I'm quite busy with essays/reading maybe only twice a week. But I think my norm is about 4 times a week.
3. How would you describe your writing style? (verbose, short-and-sweet) I tend to the TL;DR side of things, but I do use an LJ cut if it gets out of control.
4. How would you describe your journal's content? What are your interests outside of fandom? I'm obsessed with fashion and shopping so I post about gorgeous dresses/purses etc I'd like to buy. Also, pic-spams of fashion shows/shoes/pretty dresses in general. More generally, I'm a pop-culture junkie. Also, given that I'm in grad school right now, academia inevitably comes up from time to time.

That dissertation on fandom sounds awesome. So does that girl's night.

LOL, I think trying to analyze Snape for an extended period of time would drive anyone a bit mad though. And I really like Snape!

I would invite Roger to my girls night, but I'm not sure if he'd behave himself. Maybe Joan would bring him anyway. ;)

The simple fact that you A) love Jane Austen and B) are pals with zombie_boogie and put this whole thing together makes me think we'd be great pals.

There is nothing with being a pop culture junkie.

And because I am curious: what are you reading for graduate school?

la_faerie April 18 2010, 23:16:23 UTC
My program is Romantic/Victorian studies, so we're reading the whole 19th century. Not ambitious at all! It's good fun to read your way through a century, but it's also a whirlwind!

Ooh I bet it is! But the sort of whirlwind I can get behind.

Pretty dresses. You got me at that one, and then - DOROTHEA BROOKE AND MARY GARTH. I love meeting anyone who appreciates Middlemarch - it's probably my favourite Victorian novel. The Mary Garth portions of the story were perfect. You've just reminded me of how interesting they'd both be as conversation partners, especially Dorothea.

Also, Emma. <3 Friends?

Yes, someone else who appreciates Mary Garth! I'm still frustrated that George Eliot kept Dorothea and Mary from having any interaction. I've always wondered what they'd make of each other. I think they'd get along famously! But Mary is just my favorite and Mary/Fred is such a great OTP. ♥

I'll add you now!

Agreed! I love how ironic Mary can be, and I think she'd get along just fine with Dorothea even if Dorothea gets overbearing her earnestness, because Mary's sort of resigned to human nature as it is like that, not that she's hypocritical or anything. :3 She is my favourite too.
