Who: Ichigo ( savior_n_black ) Shiro ( holeheart ) and Byakuya ( ofnoblemind )
What: Ichigo going to ask permission to court date Rukia. Byakuya is *ahem* less than enthused
Where: Byakuya's Place of Solace; the Kuchiki Manor
When: Late afternoon/evening
Warnings: Possible violence, and a lot of awkward silences?
Ichigo was...well, he was nervous. Not, you know, because he was scared of Byakuya - he'd beaten the sixth division captain in a one-on-one fight before - but...this wasn't a fight. In fact if it was a fight, that would at least be straightforward. It would make sense.
But this? This was all to do with feelings; Ichigo's feelings ( which he only recently started even acknowledging ) toward Rukia, his feelings about the hollow that shares his face standing next to him, Byakuya's feelings of protective concern for his sister, and Rukia's feelings about all three of the men in her life.
Ugh, this got so complicated so fast.
Taking another deep breath, ichigo squared his shoulders...and looked beside him at Shiro. It was completely selfish, but he couldn't help feeling honestly grateful that the hollow had come along. Of course, that also fed the nervousness, because Shiro had never been all that mature about dealing with Byakuya, but Ichigo had to have faith. Faith that Shiro wouldn't let himself, or Rukia, or Ichigo down by giving into those self-centered desires. We can do this. He can do this. I can do this.
So no more stalling. With his head up, and determination fixed in the forefront of his mind, Ichigo stepped over the border between the winding mess of streets, and the dream-construct of the Kuchiki manor. He was walking, the normal way, so as to be polite, and announce his presence before he got close to the door.
